Chemical Peel Patient Care Instructions
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Avoid using retinols or other active skincare 3 days prior to your treatment unless directed otherwise
Post care instructions
Immediately after the treatments, you should apply an ice pack, as there may be mild swelling. It is normal for the treated area to feel like a sunburn for a few hours.
Makeup may be used after the post-treatment swelling has subsided, unless there is epidermal bleeding. It is recommended to use new makeup and applicators to reduce the possibility of infection.
Keep the area moisturized, any moisturizer without alpha-hydroxy acids will work.
You may shower directly after the procedure in tepid water. The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry and NOT rubbed.
Things to avoid
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for 1 month and throughout the course of the treatment to reduce the chance of spotting pigment change. Use sunscreen SPF 30 or higher at all times throughout the treatment when going outside.
Avoid strenuous activity or exercising for 2-5 days after treatment.
Avoid hot tubs, hot showers, or saunas for 2-5 days after treatment.
Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin to achieve your best results.
Avoid tweezing, waxing, bleaching or laser services during the course of the treatment.
Do not use any irritants such as Retin-A, retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide or astringents.
Avoid exfoliating the skin until all peeling is complete.
Post Treatment Symptoms
You may notice peeling of the skin that can last up to 7 days. It is important you do not peel off any skin and instead let the skin fall off on its own.
