PRP + Microneedling

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a natural product created from your own body. A small amount of your blood is drawn and placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma (the clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called platelet rich plasma.

Q: Is it better to have PRP with or without microneedling?

A: PRP stimulates collagen production and helps soften fine lines and improve skin. For best results, it is recommended to combine with microneedling. The PRP is applied throughout the procedure, bathing the skin for maximum results.

Q: How long until I see results?

A: It takes 4-6 weeks for the body to produce the collagen for benefits to be seen.

Q: What is the downtime from PRP?

A: Typically, downtime is 24 hours due to possible swelling, particularly around the eyes. Makeup is to be avoided for 24-48 hours to minimize the risk of infection. If bruising occurs, it is often very mild, pinpoint areas and resolves with 2-3 days.

The Collagen PIN (also known as Microneedling) is used to inject this PRP back into the facial skin. The Collagen PIN can be utilized without PRP to help heal scarring and reduce fine lines.

Q: Are there side effects from microneedling?

A: Like all cosmetic procedures, microneedling is not without risk. The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also see redness for a few days.

Q:  Is there downtime after microneedling?

A: Typically we say 1-4 days of downtime can be expected with this treatment. Depending on depth and how aggressive the treatment is.

Q: When will I see results?

A: Most patients see results after their first Collagen PIN treatment. Individual results vary depending on individual skin health. It is most common to begin to see true changes and positive results as soon as 1-2 weeks after the first treatment.
